    Crowd last night

There you go then, charge the ticket price for last night's game and that's how many turn up, don't get it at all, smaller ticket price, more in, more revenue? Baffling!

Exactly,it`s all very well for some people on this site to snipe at those who did`nt go last night,ok if you`ve got the money by all means go,but don`t degrade the people that do not have the means,as those that you might have.

Agree completely, Paul & Nev. I too saw the comments from one poster on another thread about those missing last night being part-time supporters etc. If you went, then fine and I am pleased that you got the entertainment you deserved. However, you cannot blame people for not going exactly one week after the Rochdale debacle and especially at the exorbitant prices that were being charged. Now I know that the pricing had to be agreed by both clubs, although the share of the gate receipts will perhaps make them think in future. They dropped an almighty clanger. Both clubs should have offered a fair deal, as a thank you to supporters for the patience they have showed in turning up to their respective league matches.

So what would have been a fair price for Tuesday night? £5/£10?
What price would have enticed people to turn up?

Perhaps we could tell the club so they have an idea for the FA cup or for next season
Out of interest does anyone know what Bury charged when they played Bolton?

2,500 people paying an average of £20 per ticket generates more revenue than 4,500 people paying an average of £10 per ticket. A smaller ticket price and a higher attendance does not necessarily equal more revenue.

Of course, a simple mathematical analysis of pricing structure doesn't take it into account the goodwill factor amongst loyal fans from cutting prices for cup games, nor the benefits of having a bit more atmosphere in the ground for the match. Both of these may be worth more in the long term than slim revenue margins; just wanted to point out that your reasoning is flawed.

I did send an EMail to the Chairman about admission charges to the Bolton game and also advised him of five other 2nd Div teams playing higher division opposition whose admissions wer substantially below those at the Alex. He remained unmoved.

I would have suggested £15 and £10 concessions.

This would have encouraged some more - not a doubling of the gate at all, even less than 50% more.
Welsh Cup's comment about public perception is spot on, for me. There is a balance, and the agreed ticket price was the wrong side of the line. I do feel though, that as we were playing a Championship club, £10 would have been too low.

Then again, I am writing with the benefit of hindsight. If the game had been boring or we'd been tanked, then £1, on top of the travel costs, would have been too much.
