    Burnley bid £1.5m for Keogh

    All over Twitterland.

I gather Derby have rejected it & Keogh has signed a new contract but not confirmed as yet.

Might explain Shotton's arrival. Then again I think RK is very settled at Derby and won't want to leave for a side that's coming straight back down.

Ella the clairvoyant and what looks like (judging purely on his post) Triz who has been drinking all day.

Mind you Triz did say that every Burnley fan on Clarets Mad wanted Martin last season, after trying to justify his performance at t'Turf.

    Care to expand?

i simply read a thread that asked which players your posters would like to sign from the championship and thes that came up from derby were keogh and martin. Im not sure how that implies i have been drinking, but it does seem to show your embarrasment at your fellow burnleymad posters for some reason.

Derby have offered 2 very good contracts to Martin and Keogh. Mclaren hopes they will both be signed by the weekend. Shotton was not signed to replace Keogh.

Bit worried we're gonna lose RK or CM. The article in the DET seems a bit... 'Look, we've offered them good deals...' That way should they leave it'd be seen as purely the players choice (not that I'm suggesting it won't be), but it would cover bases assuring fans it is not a financial decision.

Or maybe I'm just being paranoid.

Losing either wouldn't be good, but CM would really take some replacing. Not many of his ilk around for the money we'll have to spend. Would also likely take a while for a new striker to blend in too. Would be a big spanner in the works IMO if we lost him.

Not so big a spanner with Keogh though.

interesting. it's one area where I think we could improve but that's the thing, we'd need to make an improvement. 1.5m based on him being our captain and them rolling around in premier league money...it's probably a fair price for a championship club to pay but surely burnley could do better. in days gone buy I remember scott dann and roger Johnson costing 5m a piece under very similar circumstances and they're no better than Keogh.

I'd be very surprised if rush lets him go for much less than 2.5m min.

Ultimately the player will make the judgement, but if Burnley want him then £2.5 million as a minimum, against that if he wants to run down his contract we are in a Brayford situation, where we could lose him for free next summer, so I guess we would let him go.

Losing a player is not always a minus, martin or keogh, their loss could give others a chance to shine.
