re: D_D's Player Ratings vs. Reading

We learnt quite a lot last night . Even though both sides made 5 or 6 changes it was far from a match between two second string teams. Reading's team was still strong and the way they kept possession during a 10 minute spell in second half showed that.

7 for Christie just doesn't do him justice. OK it was a very poor backpass but his performance was tremendous both in attack and defensively.

Ibe has to start since nobody else has his gift to go past players. He offers far more than Bamford last season.

Mascarell should be given the chance to start. His speed and his tackles ad what he does with the ball make him a better option than Eustace. Mascarell seems to have adjusted to the style of play needed and was far more impressive than in his earlier performances as a sub.

Shotton shouldn't be written off as a centre back. True he made one or two mistakes but so do ALL our CBs. He reads the games well and I liked the way he was telling Christie what to do.

    The worst thing was rea

just going back to my earlier point, would you have still given christie an 8+ if roos hadn't made a quality save and they scored from his shocking back pass?

That's the thing rapid. For all his good work, one shocking moment can undo it all. I stand by my 7. Same with Shotton.

But they didn't score from the error , so the 'what if' is academic.

it's academic in terms of the result but not Christie's performance. the point is whether they scored from it or not doesn't affect the mistake and therefore shouldn't in terms of how his performance is judged, which is obviously why D_D went with what he did.
