If only our Johnny could finish, another miss tonight. When he is through on goal you are never confident. He misses easy chances. However he does put in some good passes.

I really wasn't moaning about him he has won us some good games and always gives his all. All I'm saying if only he could finish he would be a really class player.

Yes he could finish better, Chris Martin could have had 4 or 5 on the weekend if he had better finishing. I only listened to the game on the radio but it sounded as if Johnny worked his socks off all night tirelessly and has the quality to win games, even if it isn't through scoring goals. If he doesn't score then assisting is still fine by me.

I know the point your making Ramspride but the opportunity was too good to pass up
I would say that like many of our players, Johnny does have his faults and his goals to chances ratio may not be the best. However that is the reason (his faults and unproven at better than SPL) he came to Derby and not a higher level club.
Lots of players can put in excellent individual performances. Many
My scapegoat is IBE. ****ing ****.
The asterisks sound like ducking bank.
I actually think JR can finish. by that I mean he strikes the ball well and knows where the net is. it's quite often his ball control that lets him down. whether that's a rush of blood when he's tearing through I don't know but he'll take a heavy touch that takes him either too close to the keeper or too wide, that narrows his angle down and makes it very difficult to score. he ought to take chances a bit earlier maybe. I'm convinced his finishing is decent.
the other thing of course is that strikers rely heavily on confidence. it's difficult when you're in and out of the side. I think if he gets a run of games now that ward's injured we'll see the best of him in 4 or 5 games time. we'll see goals and good finishes!
Classic example of this was Sheff Wednesday. Clean through and if he'd taken it earlier we might have two more points. Instead his touch took him wide and too close to the keeper. Against Reading in the cup he took it early and scored.
You can't say he can't finish. My goal of the season last year against the dogs!!
I would always start Russell though. Gives defenders a lot to think about which gives space to others. IBE was getting nothing past their right back last night, but Russell managed it.
