Yes there is the odd exception but you can see why clubs go for proven international strikers rather than pay 12 million for a risky unproven one.
They are all speedsters apart from Nugent who gets his from the penalty spot. Nothing technical about any of those mentioned.

    Martin is our Lambert.

The link I've posted is really worth a watch. Shame we can't embed videos, can we?

I don't know who made it but it's an excellent collaboration of Martin's 14/15 goals, including pre season, giving him 15 or so. For those who haven't seen his Notts County hat-trick, it's worth a look. - view external link

Best striker we've had in years and has the potential to fast become a Derby legend, if he isn't that already.

Such a unique footballer, it is scary how central he is to our play.

He treats the ball like Paul Jewel treats the ladies yet can have people bounce off him like Esteban Fuertes running through passport control.

If I was a Norwich city fan and had seen my club part with him for the square-root of sweet nowt and then watch my club spunk the best part of 12 million on a player who would go onto score a couple of goals, I would be absolutely livid. It would be like Tom Huddlestone times a 1000. Just a shame he's called Coldplay.

I think what adds to the trauma is the fact that, in essence, the chose Grant Holt over him. Very short sited really.

Seems so long ago since he scored his first goal for us against Leicester at home.

I remember Clough saying that he believed that Martin had all of the attributes to take us to the next level, not sure many believed him then. I certainly didn't.

Now he's one of the main players to appear on the football league show opening credits. I can't remember Derby having a player appear in one of those since...? Going a while back.. perhaps a despairing Russel Hoult diving to his left as Robbie Fowler scored a header at Anfield.

Can anyone else think of any others? We must have had players appear in the opening credits since then.

He hasn't had his chance in the PL though so it's hard to say. You'd liken him to the style of Ulloa or Lambert, and they've done alright in the PL so far. Impossible to say until Chris plays there but I can't see it being too long before he gets his chance even if it isn't with us.

Shame he's played for Scotland already then. Could have had the sort of rise that Lambert had and made the national team but at a younger age

As I said there are exceptions but for every one of those there are probably 5 or more who won't make it.
To early to judge Ulloa yet, but let's wait and see, personally I hope you win the league and Martin goes on
