    Butland last night

Was impressed with his performance. First half he was tested, and responded to everything thrown at him. Looked very assured in nets

Second half he was more of a spectator apart from couple of catches. I think we have secured great cover for the absent Grant in this lad

May be worth playing Roos in the League Cup v Fulham though: in fact, are Stoke still in it and will they allow Butland to play anyway?

When Grant gets back fit - what happens if Butland is on fire? Will we extend the loan?

Just a thought, but if we get to January with him on form whilst on loan, might he be someone we look to bring in permanently? Grant's getting on a bit and Butland has a very bright future ahead...

I thought the loan was an initial 28 days? I read into that as in, Grants injury will take 4-6 weeks to recover, which will take us up to the end of the next international break. Should Grant appear to not be ready by the 4 weeks when Butland's loan ends, we can negotiate an extension, if Grant is fit to play Butland goes back.

We wouldn't get him permanently, certainly not in this league. Stoke signed him for 3.5mil, as a replacement for Begovic but may have kept on to him longer than expected. He was linked to City & United while De Gea and Hart weren't performing, but now they've both picked up form again.

I expect Stoke to hold on to him for

People getting carried away after 1 game. Where's future England international Frank Fielding? Oh, and Steve Bywater. Can't believe that was ever mentioned seriously
