I worked and lived in Ottawa for five years back in the 70's. It is a fairly quiet city of about 500,000. Very sad, but I imagine that Canada sending jet fights to fight ISIL is what prompted the assault.

That's my suspicion, as well. Who else could possibly have an axe to grind with Canada, after all?

All levity aside, this kind of indiscriminate attack on innocent people is very troubling.

Not clear to me what the casualties (innocent) are, but it sound like one soldier is dead, at least. Terrible tragedy.
