    Promtion to Premier League

Just saw this today... makes pretty grim reading for teams aspiring to promotion. Could be all 3 promoted teams coming back down in May?
Even Leicester who were easily the best team in the Championship last year are really struggling to hold their heads above water in the Prem.

Adds weight to my reluctant belief that from an entertainment and general enjoyment of watching Derby at the IPro it would be better to stay in the Championship.

Realise that this compromises everything we are trying to achieve and really goes against the grain but would we move from entertaining matches against competitive opponents to whipping boys for 75% of the Premiership

Yeah, I love being in the Championship where it's a lot more competitive and ultimately we're gonna win more than we lose, but in the end there's no point being here, celebrating wins and so on if you don't aspire to win promotion.

Although I was extremely gutted on May 24th, we'd probably be on the same sort of points tally as the bottom two, so it would also be frustrating to be losing every week and celebrating the odd point here and there.

Still would love promotion though, to get promoted and end up like Stoke, but a little bit better. Consistent top half finishes, and good cup runs. Unless we had a real cash boost from some Arab investor we'd never break the top 7 realistically if we did get promoted, so it would just be fighting to stay up and celebrating 17th like you'd won the league. I'd love a bit of what Southampton have got though should we go up!

I must admit, I don't get what's gone on at Southampton.
    1. Lose your manager.
    2. Sell your best 4 players.
    3. Sit pretty in a Champions League slot.

And all this with a profit of £30m on their Summer transfer dealings.

    1. They've lost a manager who has down well but has hardly been a success elsewhere and not pulled up any trees at Spurs either.

    2. They sold good players yes but at extortionate prices. Lallana and Shaw especially over-priced, but if a player has done well at an alright club, a bigger club usually wants to pay big money, e.g Lovren to Liverpool.

    3. They've clearly replaced these players with high quality players from European leagues, who are cheaper and no suggestion they're any worse than they had, e.g Tadic & Pelle.

I did fear for them after the summer but their business has been exceptionally good and full credit to them.

mate there's winners and losers in life and that's the attitude of a winner.

if you don't aspire to be the best then what's the point?

each to their own but it frustrates me that some people have so little ambition.

I remember the days when man utd hated coming to PP because we always gave them a right good game. that really wasn't that long ago!

I think people have been really scared by our 11 point season

Exactly. People say they like it in the Championship and so on and I remember a thread before the play-off final with people saying they wouldn't mind because the Championship is more competitive and cheaper and so on, but if we wanted to stay in the same league for the rest of our existence we may as well have kept Clough.

Would take 17th in the Pre

To be honest, I would go and watch whatever league we are in, like all Derby fans, however the main problem with the Prem, is the tv fixtures. Hardly any 3pm Saturday kick offs. You get moved to suit the top 6 or 7 teams, and then you have to pay massive amounts to get in. Add to this our own tickets will go up, and should we stay up, it will rise even more through demand based pricing.

£26 to go to Brentford is bad enough, but away to Chelsea for an 8pm kick off on a Monday night for £50 will be even worse!

Totally agree with Rapid and what Chili is saying is spot on too.

You have to have a winning attitude to get anything from footy and once you're in the Prem playing without it you're doomed!

Fixture changes are what really pee me off being in the Prem, but being a team playing in the best league in the world is where to be! IMO like.

I've said it before. I would rather stay in the Championship...it's more fun and seems to be a happier place to be.
