What you should have added is that from now until the end of the year we did not lose again winning 8 and drawing one. Do you see this happening this year, especially that we have Watford, Middlesbrough and Norwich to play during this period?
Compare the the League positions at the end of December and if we are still in front then I will be impressed.

The glass is always half empty for some, if we are in the top 2 at the end of may i will be impressed, my point was we are doing better than last season and yet the fickle fans are starting to moan!

Here here!!! saying that I was moaning about them with my son yesterday!
I want Grant Back ASAP, and I think Craig Forsyth and Bryson aren't at where they were last year. When they sort that we'll be back firing on all cylinders!

    re: This time last season

I have already posted on another thread a comparison of our League position to this stage last season.
There are enough comparisons that can be used by both camps. The "glass half full" boys can point to the fact that we have 7 more points, have a higher League position and have conceded a lot less goals.
The "glass half empty" boys can point out that we have scored less goals, only played one of the current top 6 and we are comparing the season so far with Nigel Clough's last few months in charge. The first few months of last season cost NC his job so you would expect some improvement.
My view is that we are already well off the pace of the 3 teams that got promotion last season, they were already passed 30 points and we are coming up to the start of our good run last season.
IMO the games against Wolves, Norwich, Middlesbrough and Watford will show us were we really are. These are the sides that are going to be challenging for the top 2 spots and if we end the year still within touchi

I think what the glass half empty boys are forgetting is that our best player got injured pre season after we threw all our money at the deal to get him. although not completely unforeseeable that's shockingly bad luck.

to me this season was being in touching distance for when thorne comes back late feb early march, then I expect the real challenge to come.

back to the glass half empty folk, where they around in the 5 years of mid table mediocrity we're endured in recent times? is it really so bad to be in the top 6?

It's a good job I am here otherwise you would be believing faildales rumours and not know the truth.

No we were not we were 9th on 22 point having played all the sides in the top six positions except blackpo who were 4th at that point!!!

This season we are joint 5th (would have been 6th but for a late Bolton consolation goal) and on 26 points having only played 1 side in the top six.

So that's a fail on that one swale! But those are the facts.

Looking at it in that context we were in a better position last year with those hard games out of the way. It's going to be very very hard with the fixtures to be at the same point we were last Christmas on paper!!!!

I'm purely stating the fact and not an opinion so if you feel wound up and annoyed by it than don't shoot the messenger

Rat your at it again, how many times have you made the same point. Please change the record. Yes we all know you think Clough was a genius and McLaren hasn't improved anything.
I'm pleased to report there are very few who agree with you.
So can you please find something interesting to say.
