West Ham v Aston Villa - Official Match Thread

Saturday brings forth Aston Villa, currently on a terrible run of SIX straight defeats, five of which were without reply.

They did manage to score against Tottenham (something we couldn't manage even with a penalty) and, in their defence, they have played Arsenal, Chelsea, Citeh, Tottenham & Everton during that run but they also got turned over by QPR who themselves have only managed one other win in nine league games.

With that in mind we should all be expecting them to score a hatful against us and for one of their players who hasn't scored in 12 years or something to get a hat-trick. But that's the old West Ham (it appears) and we're on a run of only one loss in our last seven games & that was only a Scouse neck away from being a draw at Old Trafford.

Our overall record against Villa is 34 wins, 29 draws & 33 losses with results slightly going our way this millennium. In the last couple of seasons we've won 2 and drawn & lost one, with Villa not able to score at West Ham.

Nice touch Tanz mate, I just got home from work he was stood in the hallway sporting the full kit in preparation. He thinks he's wearing the shorts to the game but our Indian Summer has finished today so I don't fancy his chances.

He just told me that Chelsea smell of poo and that one of his friends supports Manchester United and the other one supports Man U. I informed him that they were the same team and he's told me not to be silly and walked off laughing.

Just a personal thing but I'd rather play a team that's just won 6 on the bounce, not one that's lost 6, or is it 7, in a row.

Something to do with the law of averages I think.

Still my record's good. I predicted defeats against Liverpool and Man City. So I'm saying with absolute confidence that Villa will end their losing run and get at least a point.

Good news on the injuries...from SSN

West Ham's top striker Diafra Sakho looks set to return against Aston Villa on Saturday after recovering from a shoulder injury.

Sakho has scored seven goals in his first seven games in all competitions for West Ham since joining the club from Metz in the summer.

He picked up the shoulder injury in the Hammers' recent victory over reigning Premier League champions Manchester City and was forced to sit out the 2-2 draw at Stoke over the weekend.

West Ham on Tuesday said he has recovered from the injury and is in line to return to the squad for the Premier League match against Aston Villa at Upton Park.

Andy Carroll: Played in behind-closed-doors match

The 24-year-old scored the crucial second goal when West Ham defeated City 2-1 at home on October 25.

A collision with City goalkeeper Joe Hart led to Sakho being substituted and he was not risked at the Britannia Stadium as Sam Allardyce's side came from two goals down to take a point.

Hope France call Sakho up...that would stop him playing in the ACON
