    Oliver

From the live commentary, it sounds as though Vadaine was on fire.

Perhaps he's benefiting from some good old-fashioned players who make sure that centres come in from the flanks, playing to his size and aerial power.

We could do with some of that.

If Davis cannot bring someone in this week, then I would seriously consider bringing this player back for Doncaster. At least he does know in which direction to hit the ball. Towards the opponents nets, that is!

Oliver always looked the part, but with absolutely no end product. We need someone who scores goals: not someone who gets in the right place and looks as if he might.

My current ideal would be Haber and Brandy supported by an in-form Walters just behind them. Inman on the left wing, cutting in and causing mayhem.

So, for me, no. Oliver is not the solution.

But he's just scored a goal - in L2 - so he must be!

comfortably better than Haynes based on the evidence of my own eyes and eligible to play in two games that Haynes was n't when our striker options are/were limited.

Let's have it right, an absolutely shocking decision irrespective of his performances for Mansfield.

    Hindsight is a wonderful thing.
Oliver just wasn't doing it, hence allowed to go out on loan and effectively be replaced by Haynes.
I bet I wasn't the only one who thought this was a useful signing, he has a higher pedigree - but as is often the risk with any new signing, loans especially, they don't always come off.
    Add Haynes to that list.

Oliver is not the answer, we can all see that, so yes, by all means criticise SD for not getting a striker in but don't criticise him for trying.
And please don't use Oliver as a stick to beat him with! He was worth a shot I guess but we can all see 2 years on that he's a L2 striker at best!

I don't know if Oliver is from the academy or not as I don't follow that as close as most on here!

But surely that is the weakness of ANY academy when we HAVE no real alternative but to play them whether they are any good or not because millions have been spent on them. That means mistakes are heavily punished and we find ourselves losing matches and its actually embarrassing for us to see the stats in the league, never mind hundreds of away fans paying good money to see us turned over, games after game by what we think are teams we shouldn't be.

The answer is one third academy, two thirds proven footballers. Even that is better than most clubs with academies and yet we want to try and win with 7 or 8 in the team who are like kids playing MEN? Pushed aside, fell over etc etc. I feel sorry for them actually and its asking too much of them and winning youth matc
