D_D's Player Ratings vs. Brighton

It was a funny old game; we were red hot for the first twenty minutes, but poor in parts after that. Still, nobody can knock a 3-0 win, so on to the ratings:

Grant 6- His punching from crosses was very good first half, but after that, he looked quite shaky. His distribution and unnecessary holding of the ball second half was quite poor. Still, he's only just come back into the team, so I'm sure with games he'll get back to his best.

Christie 5- His poorest game in my opinion. He looked nervous at times, and his decision making when getting forward was also poor. He did assist Martin's goal, which he gets some credit for. Needlessly booked for a poor challenge.

Shotton 5- I praised him a week or so ago, but he reverted to the inept defender I saw when he first arrived. Hopefully it was a one off, but still, Keogh should come back in ASAP. Many thought he'd me more comfortable on the right side, the reality was far from it.

Buxton 6- Not bad for his first game back, certainly the pic

Pretty fair D_D but thought Hendrick was pretty average today. Bottled a few 50/50 challenges and generally ineffective.

Now then, Mr Martin... 2 well taken goals and when he holds it up and plays players in, he is brilliant.. However today there were plenty os missplaced passes from him as well. Should have set Dawks up first half as well...
Not knocking your score, he had a good game and it was great to see him as a threat again. However not my MOTM...

For me Bryson gets that.

Dawkins was also good today and was a real threat.

Thought he made 1 mistake and 2 bad passes today,I accept that these need to be eradicated but 5 and yet Bucko got 6.

didn't get a sniff? how about that goal that bent scored ruled out by a debatable offside flag? shotton caught with the ball over the top.

can't believe people thought shotton played well. 1 or 2 bad passes? try 4 or 5 mate and under no pressure. again, brighton were so ****e they didn't make anything of them but against Chelsea we'd have been punished.

as for bucko, he didn't put a foot wrong did he? although admittedly he didn't have as much to do as shotton. I thought shotton made a couple of good recoveries but only after he'd put himself needlessly in trouble.

**** me lads. We won 3-0 and are top of the league. What's with picking out all the bad points. This usually happens when we loose and the rat will raise his ugly head. We are not Barcelona. We won't play like them week in week out either. So let's have a bit of positive talk and enjoy the wave we on at the min. It could be worse look at forest

Sorry from where we were there was no doubt about offside and we were waiting for what seemed ages for the linesman to raise his flag which he didn't do until just before Bent came in contact with the ball.

Butland would have been crucified if his distribution had ever been as bad as Grant's was today!

Agree with most of that D_D, except I don't know how Buxton got a 6, he was about a 4 along with Forsyth, his positioning, distribution and awareness was appalling. Needs to get match fit or its Keogh (who we really did miss today) and Shotton as 1st choice.

Hendrick was a little off it today, but solid enough.

Have to just add how awesome was Russell today, his running off the ball is really intelligent, I can't see how anyone could take his position. Ward, Dawks and Ibe take note!!!

Can't agree with Mascarrels score I thought his distribution was poor after we went 3 up. As for Grants distribution it must be something they do on the training ground high kick to Forsyth for him to head down to someone near him. Both Butland and Grant do/did the same unfortunately this kick has to be very accurate and generally doesn't work
