All players have a dip, but I fully expect Keogh to be an important player to help push us over the line this season.
He's a fantastic player and he'll shrug off those errors.

A few weeks ago I posted that Keogh was a vastly improved player and apologised to him for slanging him off before. Since then he has gone back to his old ways. Mistake against Leeds, goal down, mistake against Middlesborough goal down, mistake last night goal down. I know all players make mistakes the trouble is he makes the same one every time. He doesn't seem to know you don't try and dribble a ball out of the penalty area when you have players bearing down on you. I'ts just asking for trouble as is proved time and time again. Please Richard when you are near our goal and you have player/s right in front of you just get rid of the bl**dy ball

I honestly think he is over confident and he does not have the footballing ability to back it up. Glory passes, playing under pressure these are things he is not good at.. Blocking and giving it to someone else are his strengths.. He keeps trying that cross field ball and granted it has woOriginally Posted by ramspride
Agree with Angry on this. That cross field pass is so telegraphed it either lands in the stand or is read and cut out by the full back every time. Just needs to make the simple passes into CM and let them take the risks. That way if they lose it, there is a line of defence (ie himself) to avert the danger
Now throwing himself under the bus to block a shot, that is his forte!
All of the CHs I admire most and think are most effective, dont see them running out of defence with the ball, and dont see them giving it away and being left stranded either. People going on about Omar getting caught out of position - far worse when its your CH!
By the way, I think blaming Keogh for either goal against Boro harsh. Both were Shottons fault!
whilst Keogh has had a good season on the whole I don't think his 'clangability' (I made up a word up there...) has ever changed. he generally makes 1 a game. usually the opposition aren't good enough to take advantage. as I said before the Chelsea game (speaking about shotton at the time) if we give the ball away in dangerous areas that quality of opposition will punish us. that's exactly what happened.
and again as I've also been banging on about - nobody notices or seems to be bothered when we don't get punished but against Chelsea and leeds (boro too?) we were.
so I don't see that anything has changed with Keogh other than the opposition have been good enough to make us pay.
what I would say in his defence is that we play a style that requires passing out from the back so occasionally there will be the odd mistake. I just think it happens too often (I reckon on average once a game in dangerous areas).
one of the things we can take from yesterday's game is that although all 4
as he s our only recognised centre half who is not injured or suspended we should leave him alone
It's all opinion but I think you're all holding a grudge against him because of Wembley.
One of the top 5 CBs in this division. A very good defender.
Yes, he is still adding to his game and his distribution of the ball out from the back has been inconsistent, but you must agree he has added a dimension to our attacks when he brings the ball out.
He's no Roy Mac, Igor or Mark Wright, but then who in our price range is?
Agree with WS909. Integral part of the team, maybe he should of hoofed it last night earlier, but was very unlucky that the ball fell to a Chelski player. Fantastic block on Drogba also prevented a probable goal.
Highlight of the game for me apart from the goal was JR putting Terry on his Ar**. Class !
The poor form calls are a bit harsh, he's the best of all our CBs by a long way.
He may have made a misplaced pass last night, but the Chelsea player still had to get his shot though 3 bodies plus grant. Anyone other than a top 4 Prem team and there wouldn't have been a goal, it was a quality finish.
The tactic of him bringing the ball out makes a massive difference to our play, and without it we are too predicatable. It's something he's obviously been told to do, and is generally very succesful at it, because he picks a simple pass at the end of it. So he is never out pof position when doing this. The only time he is out of position is when he's covering for one of our other defenders.
I also disagree that he should hoof it out of defence everytime there is a bit of pressure, it just invites pressure back. The only person that should be doing that is Grant or if the defender is back-tracking.
On the whole people are giving him far too hard a time, he is a very good player, one of
