    If McLaren goes

He's still second favourite for Newcastle. If he goes, and he might, who could come in? The list of available replacements looks poor. Uwe Rosler? Dave Jones? Glenn Hoddle?

    Not good.

    Happy New Year

    Eddie Howe...

Best young manager in the game, a dent to a promotion rival and I reckon he would come to the rams.

Not a chance, he jumped ship once and regretted it. he's happy at Bournemouth, for footballing and family reasons.

But this is all hypothetical as Steve is staying (I hope. really, really hope)

That depends on whether he is allowed to buy who he want's to buy and is not constricted by the constraints of FFP. He won't be at Newcastle and will be on a far higher wage. That alone usually decides things.

So this is what it's like having a manager that other clubs would love to have. Newcastle manager is one of the biggest jobs in the country, purely because of the size of the club and the certain failure any manager would be there.

I don't think that Mac would go to Newcastle, I think he's too intelligent to take that job.

If he does go, and he will at some point, the obvious replacement would be Simmo. Long term who knows, I just hope we are in a higher division by that point.

At the end of the day folk work for money, I hate Forest, love the banter with them and love them to be in the same division as the games against them are special! Like I said I hate them but would work for the club if they offered me £200,000 a week. Mac won't be interested in the Newcastle job but if they offer him mega bucks he would be off like a shot!

What a job where he could double his wage, be half an hour from where he lives and is a bigger club with more resources already in the prem? I'd say IF it was offered he'd go like a shot!

The fact he did not offer a complete denial shows he would be interested, can't really blame him, but where would his reputation be without his chance at Derby?

yep simmo 100%. knows the players and likely to have their backing, knows the set up. has been an instrumental in our success recently.

also was reasonably successful in the lower leagues so has learned his trade.

I think we'd be crazy to go with anyone else.
