Thread: McClaren

    McClaren

Very disappointed to hear Steve refusing to confirm that he wouldn't be leaving for Newcastle in his post-match interview with Owen Bradley.

If he doesn't intend to leave, then why on earth can't he just say that. Failing to do so simply leaves the door open and fans the flames of doubt for everyone associated with the club.

Like I said in a previous post money talks! He can't say no in case Newcastle offer him something he can't refuse!

My thoughts exactly, unless he is playing games with the media, but cannot understand that IF he is intent at finishing the job here, then he'd give a flat no, but clearly, IF an offer was made, then he would be on his way, more money, bigger prospects and he lives on Teesside.

Have a bad feeling he could go. The bookies are seldom wrong and he certainly didn't say he wasn't going after the match today. I know he was only asst man when he went to Man U but away he went and look what a disaster that was for us.

Just such a let-down if it turns out that he leaves; it would devalue everything he's said about his affection for the club. If the worst happens, do you reckon he'll take Simmo and Eric Steele as well? That would be the nightmare scenario, especially at this stage in the season.

It would be a damper on things, but as yet no approach has been made, as he said speculation I believe that bit anyhow.

I think if an approach is made for Maclaren he will go
The lure of premiership football with a slim chance of Europe will swing it
Why Pardew would leave Newcastle for palace leaves me gobsmacked
he had the most secure job in the premiership

I think you're being unreasonable. having affection for the club and leaving aren't mutually exclusive. I love derby but if I played for them and Newcastle offered be 3 times the money and a chance to play in the premier league I'd jump at it.

I pray to god he doesn't go. if he does I'd thank him for everything and hope we make a good appointment next.

as to whether he'd take simmo/steele, I think that depends on if we offered simmo the job or not. I'd expect we'd appoint simmo manager and that would have my full backing.

Pardew was told to find another club by Newcastle, talk is he had lost passion at Newcastle. His heart was no longer in the job.

    re: McClaren

The reaction to what MacClaren has said or not said is somewhat childish and doesn't reflect the realities of his position.

Are fans saying that they would support him come what may and not turn on him if we had a bad run?

He has said he wants to finish the job here. But its the same as with players that an offer might come in that he couldn't refuse. ( And what do we know about his family situation and any need for the whole family to be in the north east?)

Many managers expect that they can talk to any club who makes an offer and the reality is that they sometimes leave.

There is no evidence that he wants to leave us. There is no evidence of even an approach.

Fans will unsettle the club if they keep on making a big thing of this.
