    Evans?

So, are we the L1 club taking him on?

If that were to happen, then Mr Bowler would have to send his MBE back right now.

As they say on every Eggheads programme, the team is playing for something that money can't buy: their reputation.

However, Smurf (for a play-off push) and Scally (to ward off relegation) might be interested.

Crewe and Colchester would rather go down than take anything to do with this.

Let him who is without sin, cast the first stone!

Mob mentality that far worse offenders have not experienced.

I wonder what the reaction will be if he is found not guilty on his appeal?

I would have no problem with him playing for us or anyone else, but that's just me thinking everyone deserves a second chance and most do get that but not in football apparently that most think is outside of the realm of natural justice and humanity.

For that particular 'sin' I think the vast majority of us have the right to pick up a stone. You can also only be forgiven if you repent. The convicted rapist Evans has not repented.

If Oldham take him on, I think they can wave goodbye to a fair few fans.

I also disagree with the BBC. Evans does not 'continue to protest his innocence'; the correct phrase, for me, would be that he continues to say that a jury of his peers, who convicted him, were wrong.

Let's hear it for the victim. Her life has been ruined. She was drunk ... now that is a state that most of us can say that we've been there and we regret it. Being drunk is not an reason for being raped.

Please update us on the latest surrounding this former footballer, who has served his sentence for a crime? Where has it been stated that he is to be employed by a L1 club? Have we been mentioned in this latest speculation?

Definitely Oldham Athletic, as being reported by BBC News and Sky Sports.
Do the Latics have a Jess Ennis or Charlie Webster to have to make them see sense?

There has been a lot of conjecture about the case but there are some facts (proven in a court of law)

    - Ched Evans had intercourse with a women who was in no fit state to agree whilst his friend filmed it

    - Ched Evans dumped her out of the back of a fire escape knowing she was in no fit state to get home without care or concern

    - Ched Evans raped the women and subjugated her to a hate campaign through his friends and family.

This is not someone many Crewe fans would want at the club (for one if we signed him my wife wouldn't go to another game).

From a footballing point of view the loss of fans/sponsors in the long term isn't worth the footballing ability he brings. From a moral point of view there is nothing enshrined to say that he can't continue playing and as has served his sentence he should be allowed to play again...just not for The Alex.

I have no idea if Evans was guilty or not and I'd edge towards he probably was. However he maintains 100% he was innocent so I dont understand people saying he should be more remorseful/apologies because that would be admitting it.

I also believe he should be allowed to have another chance. He's served his time and that's it. Everybody deserves a second chance in life.

Having said that I think Oldham are absolutely bonkers signing him! Terrible terrible PR for the club and ok he's a good player but he's no Messi! Not worth it at all for all the negatively that will come with having him . A lot of their fans and players must be very worried about this. He is going to get crazy abuse from away fans and possibly Oldham fans also.

Going abroad is the path he should have pursued!

Trouble with that is ... ... "Convicted rapist Ched Evans will not be allowed to resume his career overseas, the Ministry of Justice (MoJ) has said"

Let's not forget that Oldham have form in giving a chance to convicted offenders on release.

As the BBC mentions, they were willing to take a chance on Lee Hughes.
