    Player Valuations

I'm sorry but I'm still of the school of thought that no player is worth paying more than a million for these sums are obscene.

Gareth bale of special note not being worth by this definition what was paid.

Howncan messi be worth nearly four times more! - view external link

A sport endlessly turning in spirals of madness.

On this basis I've got to be worth 100,000!

Surely this cash driven obscenity has to hit them buffers soon - FFS all it is is kicking an inflated lump of soggy leather about. Anyone would think their players were factors, nurses or teachers with those :valuez"

I'm with you on that its unbelievable.

Especially when you consider the turnover of most clubs is relatively small.

It's a bit like the man in the street going to buy a family car and paying £500k for a Ford Fiesta.

Welcome to the free market economy!

Its quite simple really, whilst millions of people are prepared to spend £25 per month or whatever the equivalent is in Beijing, Singapore, Sydney etc etc, on their pay tv subscription, corporate sponsors are willing to stump up big bucks and there are sufficient rich individuals willing to throw away money then for a relatively few clubs and players the money go round will continue!

Of course we could perhaps turn football into a real sport, whereby transfer fees were abolished, wage caps introduced and there was a fairer way of distributing talent (maybe along the lines of the NFL draft?). So that every team had an equal chance of winning the league, but then football is not really a sport anymore, its global entertainment!

But even so these amounts are completely disproportionate to the income taking that into consideration.

Use messi for example even if he signed for a big team the increased revenue would not cover a fraction of the transfer fee
    Never mind wages.

When you look at the big picture there is just no logic or reasoning behind it. It's a fantasy land people live in buying and selling things that are independent and effectively worthless. Not as if it's bricks and mortar!

...and it's all Sam Rush's fault.

Wasn't Messi a target of NLN in their past?

The same happened with bricks and mortar, remember sub prime mortages? Or financial instruments that did nothing but got bought and sold for big bucks?
