As they say in The Castle movie (an Aussie movie -popular but may not be in the UK) - "tell him he's dreaming".

Leon Best, took an amazing amount of criticism for some reason, and if I had the time, I would love to trawl this forum looking for who said what, and compare to the comments about Martin in his half season on loan here, and when we signed him.

There were plenty of doubters about him, saying he was fat and lazy. However, he was given a full half season with us, in this time he regained his confidence, his shape and got used to playing regularly again. He got lucky and slotted in almost immediately.

Best wasnt so lucky, he looked out of sorts, and was very low on confidence. Perhaps he had been reading forums, where we are allowed to level (sometimes vile) criticism at a player because they do not score a hat trick every match, or make 100 well timed runs into the box? MaC has said he was no problem, worked hard and tried for DCFC, on this occasion it didnt work out. I wish him well, seems a nice lad, and I have a feeling he might start scoring again with a regular run.

Totally agree, Best really did not get a chance, partly due to martins form, but in a striker, game time and confidence are big factors - I for one thought martin was pnats until he signed on a perm and he came good!

Had a talk about it yesterday at work, about strikers who score a load of goals for lower clubs, are then deemed to be worth millions, yet then go on to do zilch at a bigger club.

For me Danny Graham and Steve Morison fit this description, yet hardly hear theirs nowadays, after big moves.

Yeah where did he end up? Grant Holt's another, isn't he at Wigan now? Did alright for one season then got found out and that was the issue with martin at Norwich, once they got to the prem he didn't feature - Freddie Sears is another now on loan at ispwich!
