I know. Massive promotion bonuses and re-negotiated contracts.
I think that box has been ticked already!

How do you motivate players who know that if we reach the "Promised Land" will be sold or released?
We all know the gap between Championship & Premier league is large & even our best players will struggle, while others will be discarded if we intend to stay for more than one season. Of course we are no there yet & my comments are purely hypothetical... But what if?

I think the big time Charlie players are the hardest to motivate and at the moment don't think we have any! I'd imagine most players who want Premiership football who deep down don't think they're good enough must realise that the only chance they have to play there is by going up with a their promoted club and try and show the manager that they are good enough to be in the squad and progress from there!
I also think that every player in our squad is capable of playing in the PL.
Whether they can do it collectively as a team as they are now, or whether they'll need a few experienced quality additions to bolster the ranks is another matter.
As Much as I love the bloke I don't think Bucko could make the move up to Premier league, he'd be better in the WWE!Originally Posted by wristslasher_909

But Buxton must be the way to motivate the players. Who would have thought that a slow and limited non-league player could step up his game so far that he is a regular in a top Championship side? I'd suggest that the improvement required of most of our current first team players to make adequate Premier League players, is less that the improvement shown by Jake to make it to this point.
I think the sale of Coutts freeman says we know who wont hack it there

We have just bought Raul Albentosa from Eibar, a team the size of Burton Albion that play in La Liga, so could Bucko do a job in the Prem, yes, as a squad player.
Derby are pushing for promotion not because of one or two star players but because they function as a team, both on and off the pitch.
That bond will help the club fight for premiership survival if we make the step up, with the addition of two or three new players and the guidance of SM and back room staff.
Think that's a tad unfair on Coutts. He and Brayford were the creative outlet a couple of seasons ago. Coutts is non-stop machinery and no little skill when he's match-fit. He'll rip League 1 once he's dusted his knee off a bit. And Brayford will look twice the player again...Originally Posted by southernram22

If they don't look good players in league 1 then they clearly werent as good as some thought! I'm surprised Brayford has gone to a league 1 club, thought he would OK with Cardiff in the championship.
