    Cardiff away meet/ safe pub!

Anyone know the best place for away fans to meet before the match? We're going on the train from Bath. So won't be seeing many derby fans coming from that direction. I've heard there's no pubs near Ninian park that are friendly but was hoping some people may be meeting up in Cardiff Centre?

Most pubs Ok in City centre, dont wear any scarves or colours though and suss them out before going in.

Main thing is to keep quiet so they can't tell your not Welsh, especially coming away after the match on the train!!

If you go in a pub make sure you've got a pint of Brains bitter in your hand or they'll know you're not Welsh. I find sticking a leek in your top pocket helps you blend in!

On a serious note Cardiff and Derby fans get on well with each other. We all love our sheep!

    Yeah true that!

I walked into a bar in Cardiff and ordered a pint of Brains.

All the Taffy's sitting around the bar look up, expecting to see another Welshman.

The barman says, "Your not from around here, are you Boyo?"

I said no I'm from Derby in England."

The barman says, "What do you do in Derby?"

    I said I'm a taxidermist.

The barman says, "A taxidermist? What the hell is a taxidermist boyo? Do you drive a taxi?"

"No, a taxidermist doesn't drive a taxi. I mount animals."

The barman grins and yells, "He's okay boys. He's one of us."

Back in the early 80's I went on my first away game on my own to Cardiff ... six of us turned up at the station, including the late Booey god rest him, to be met by 50 plus knife wielding Blue Birds of which one had one leg and was on crutches!

From nowhere the police appeared and bundled us in the van they had opened up a gate early in the open terrace and it was raining and no food. It was 12.30so not a pleasant afternoon and I 'think' we lost too like we did most of the time back then.

Only had a few worse experiences than there and usually involving Millwall...
