7 days to find a striker

We have a week to bolster our attack which looked very weak today. If we don't replace Baird then we can say goodbye to a play-off place, - it's as simple as that.

Queens played well in the first half, and should have had at least one, if not two goals with Holty's header. After the 55th minute we succumbed to wave after wave of Hibs attacks and should have been 2 or 3 down even before Jim's crazy dive.

It looked like the whole team had their plugs pulled out, and for some reason, Kidd, Dowie, Higgins and Holt of all people gave away suicide passes! Just what was Holty thinking when he back-heeled straight to the Hibs midfield?

Hibs finished the match streets ahead of Queens and looked much fitter, much sharper and far more deadly in front of goal.

We have shipped some quality players in recent days; - Kerr, Baird and Kevin Dz, - it's definitely time to bring a couple back in, and one of them has to be a striker.

Yes we did look light up front today with Gavin lacking much in the way of support and the Hibs defense was just too physical for him. Require to use the wages freed up by those allowed to leave, some to our nearest competition, to recruit new and enthusiastic fresh talent or the season could fizzle out.

Del looks half a yard short of pace and seems good for 45 min these days. Reilly ran his socks off but was surprisingly ineffective and his passing was desperate. Problem is the bench was lacking any realistic alternative. We probably only have the strike force for a one up formation just now but that won't win us enough games to stay in the mix. Hope we've an eye on someone to fill the gap...

I think Falkirk are safe for the 4th spot. Theyve gone out and bagged a handful of players showing real intention that they want the 4th spot.

We go out and sign one player, a replacement at that who looks to have potential but isn't fit !

Just to add: We have technically lost another player no one seems to mention, the manager!

The window so far looks like it has been a cost cutting exercise. Two players out right at the start and no worries that they were going to our closest rivals for 4th. 3 players out altogether and one half fit one brought in.
Yes we have players coming back from injury, but I don't remember anybody at the start of the season saying we had too many players.
There was nobody decent on the bench today who was fully fit and we knew beforehand that two players aren't going to last 90 minutes. At least with Del you know he will graft for the time he's on. Why are we signing a player who isn't fit? And why is he not fit anyway? Were our players that far off the pace when we were part-time?
Perhaps he will come good. But like the players coming back from injury, it is going to take time for them to get back up to speed. Meanwhile, our rivals for 4th are picking up points, ably assisted by the striker we handed to them on a plate. If we did have to let him go, and I maintain we didn't,

I don't share the optimism about the returning players - I can't see Mitchell dislodging Dowie at right back unless there are further injuries /suspensions. Burns can play a part but goodness knows what the problem is with McKenna and there must be huge question marks about him given his time out.Paton is a good player but he is not a striker and to accommodate him the manager will probably have to sacrifice someone like Russell who can be erratic but scores a fantastic number of goals fom a wide position.

Miller is undoubtedly a gifted midfielder but to come to us unfit is hardly a ringing endorsement and when you see how sharp teams like Hibs are in midfield being fit is an absolute pre-requisite. Keep saying it but to allow Kerr and particularly Baird to leave to our rivals was an error of judgement.

Can't believe how many Queens fans were negative towards Baird - for me he was under utilised but when he played he invariably led the line well and would have played a big part in

We MUST get a striker in or we can say good bye to 4th.
Falkirk have made 4 really good signing to get them 4th.
Do we want 4th then it is up to Fowler to get a striker in.
Morton won 2nil today with Caldwell and MacDonald getting the goals 2 strikers who where available in this window both could have did a job for us.
