    Why No Lingard?

Good result but suprised Steve brought on Dawkins instead of Lingard. Unless it was to try and boost his confidence. Unfortunately he slowed play down and missed a couple of sitters which certainly won't have done anything for his confidence.

I thought we won comprehensively today so I assume, given our current form and league position, that the manager knows what he's doing. He'll use Lingard when he needs to never fear!

Think it was about being loyal to existing players. Lingard will play FA cup as Ince cup tied. Once Lingard gets a chance and Russell is fit again in a few weeks. Dawks could be a bit part player at best. Only so many can sit on the bench

I think you're right. dawks must be fearful of his future. although he hasn't exactly set the world alight in the past couple of games he hasn't really done anything wrong. a few days later we sign 2 high profile players that play in his position. all of a sudden it looks like he's 5th in the pecking order for 2 positions.

bearing in mind we already had the game run I feel it was excellent management from mac to bring dawks on. he had to show him he's still a part of his plans.

managing such a talented squad and keeping everyone happy will be difficult.

Shouldn't have been a surprise since MacClaren has shown some caution in the past and not necessarily putting new signings straight in. Ince seems an obvious replacement for Ibe so went in first.
Though he has been too cautious of late at least Dawkins is good at not giving the ball away and for this reason seemed the better option.

Don't forget as well Lingard has been out with an injury for the majority of the season.
