We used to take that many and more up there for cup games in the 60s and 70s.

When Saints first got promoted in the 60s, it was common for Saints to take 5,000 to 10,000 to London away games, for example, packing the whole of the Park Lane End at White Hart Lane, and 3,000 to 5,000 to games in the Midlands. It seems incredible now, but back then capacities were much greater and anyone could pay on the day.Mind you, in that era, that was nothing special. Man United & Chelsea could take 10,000 fans to just about any away game in the country, where they could get in.
