    Style of play v Wigan

Let's not get carried away, but the stats showed we played a more fluent passing game against Wigan, contrary to reports that Freedman employs dour tactics.

It seems he's even pledged that would be the case to appease fans. I for one disagree, there's no need to, he should employ whatever he thinks best even if its dour. Some of our fans need to lower their expectations and stop demanding we play the 'Forest way' of passing etc.

We are not a top division side and we do not have the calibre of players we once had that could ensure this style as a permanent fixture.

If results are positive I don't care if we are dour or play the long ball very often. And if results are negative, and the only way to stem it is to play dour long balls, then so be it. - view external link

Agreed. These scare stories are common because many fans think that a manager can only produce one style of play - a decent manager (best example Mourinho) will produce a style of play to fit the players available to him. An example closer to home is Cotterill who was expected to play the long ball game, but produced an entertaining team.

The only disappointment is that Freedman wasn't in charge against Millwall. Early days, but proof that a change of manager can have an instant impact. Pearce was one of my all time favourite players, but when a manager uses that old smokescreen of the club needing reforming from top to bottom, and the job being a long term project without being able to produce a team that can string a few passes together, it's time to panic.

Let's now hope for a decent end to the season, and renewed confidence for next season - as long suffering supporters we surely deserve that !!
