Come on, go out and win for Dave tonight!

Not that they should need motivating, but it would be great if they can win tonight in Dave's memory and honour.

Now this man could lead and motivate the players around him. Great great player and I am so glad I saw him play in a Rams shirt

The like of Dave is IMO what the current team lacks. knew when to put his foot on the ball, knew when to put an opponent on the deck, and inspired those around him. And he had a knack of making the ball come to him rather than vice versa, a rare skill.

But he was the most inspirational player Derby have ever had. It's a pity there are no old videos covering entire games as shown with today's games. If there were I'd sit Keogh down to watch one with Dave playing. And say watch this 'that is how to captain a side' if you can match 25% of that you'll do OK

That game, played Dec 26th 1970, is for me the most iconic Derby County game of all time. I received my first Derby County kit the day before{Christmas Day} and was allowed to stay up and watch MotD. Aged 5 and dressed in said kit, I watched with staring eyes as the game swung this way then that. It finished 4-4, on a pitch fit for a pig. MacKay, Wignall, Hector, O'Hare, Gemmill, McFarland, Law, Best, Kidd, Charlton, Morgan. Snow, white ball, 34,000 crammed in. Les Green's last appearance in goal...Give me back those days and I'm welling up...

Remember it well. There was some talk at the time of Les Green having thrown the game due to gambling debts, but nothing was ever proven. I think he just had a bad game. This was when Colin Boulton staked his claim for a place in the team...and didn't he do well!

Hope Dave is looking down tonight

Yes we certainly do lack such a player. Ditto, Man Utd, Arsenal, Liverpool... etc etc
