    if that's fibre it is crap, you're right.

    more likely ADSL though. 5mbs is fairly good for ADSL. par for the course anyway.

    new comp won't help. new internet will.

    My test says 88.16 Mbps download and 88.23 Mbps upload.

    But then, I had industrial strength cable installed at my house for obvious reasons.

    1.9 download, 0.32 upload. Cable's coming this year though.

    That's the thing about Cumbria; raped for it's resources - coal and water supplied to other parts of the country - landed with a nuclear waste dump, now masses of wind turbines and solar farms spoiling the beauty of the whole area. And what do we get in return? Poor job opportunities, shocking public transport, dreadful internet speeds, woeful mobile phone signals, failing hospitals. Don't let that put you off coming mind. Just drive up, don't expect to speak to anyone back home and bring your own doctor. Sorted.

    Things could be worse..you could live in Lancashire with our Asian brethren for company . ..think yourself lucky you only have illuminous fish for neighbours.
