Anyone old enough, will have great memories of watching this maestro at work. One of the main reasons we won the cup in 91. - view external link
The most talented player I ever watched in a claret and amber jersey.
Sorry to use this phrase but he was SIMPLY THE BEST Ive seen in the claret and amber
Such a pleasure to watch and such a great man.Amazing thats all i can say about Super Cooper.
Remember it well was on way to Easter road when news came through he had sadly passed it was an afternoon kick off on a Wednesday I think as no floodlights so was a surreal day all round think we lost 2 0 as well but as 20 yrs ago may be wrong .He was a great man as well as a footballer and was talking to him the previous saturday as drank in my local at the time and he was a true gent
I remember the strange atmosphere in the Easter Road stand that afternoon. We lost the game but no one gave it any thought.
Without doubt, the best player I've ever seen in the claret and amber. He was so much more than just a winger. Good god, he transformed Tom Boyd from donkey to speedy wing back in a matter of months.
The greatest travesty is how little he's known outside of Scotland. Very few of my english peers know of his greatness.
A true legend, we were lucky to have him !!
Still remember in the cup final win a young Phil O'Donnell with minutes to go collecting a ball and trying to make his way towards goal with Davie Cooper screaming at him to take the ball to the corner flag to run the clock down
In Coop we trusted, and he rewarded us in spades !
Bad things happen to good folk for some unbeknown reason, as I'm sure we've all experienced at some time?
And, 20 years ... wow; where does time go!?
