Along with Jonners, Benaud's was the iconic voice of cricket as I grew up.

Couldn't agree more. The man was a genius behind the mic, understood the power of silence and timing of carefully crafted words to add to the spectacle. An art long since lost.
That he was affectionately mimicked the world over spoke volumes too. Might get out my old Channel 9 tapes as a fond salute to the great man.
