Blues advance with £7m deal.

Spurs want in the region of £7m for Aaron Lennon - a fee Everton are keen to pay as they look to sign the winger permanently.

Roberto Martinez has made it clear he will try to do a deal with Tottenham for the 28-year-old when the transfer window reopens after Lennon's impressive form on loan on Merseyside since February.

The former Leeds man is believed to be keen to stay at Goodison Park long-term but only has a year left on his Spurs contract so Everton could decide to bide their time and try to land him on a free.

However, Martinez thinks he is worth the £7million asking price Spurs want and does not want to lose him to any other Premier League clubs interested, with the likes of Sunderland, Aston Villa, Newcastle and West Ham all watching his situation closely.

Lennon has no real future at White Hart Lane under Mauricio Pochettino and will be allowed to move on in the summer if clubs meet their valuation.
