Thread: Clement, Bent ect

    Clement, Bent ect

Hi guys sorry I haven't been active much recently

Bit of gossip I've heard is today is Clement has agreed terms today. He's been fiddling around with a pay off with Madrid but that is seemingly sorted now. An announcement won't be far away. Sunderland had late interested, but has chosen us.

Bent hasn't agreed yet. I'm told he's waiting for discussion with the new head coach before making a decision, although the club are confident on him joining.

Another bit of gossip is that last week we spoke to Robert Huth about joining up, but Leicester where he was on loan at, have stolen the March and he is joining them

Finally, we have been speaking to Alex Pearce of Reading. He has rejected a contract and has been talking to a few clubs, one being Leeds. The club are very interested in him, and discussions are continuing. Good free agent, and I think that's one that might just happen

    Nice one Super Rams!

Good news on Clement. He will be good and breath fresh intuitive ideas to te team

Bent - I'm okay with this but I'm hoping it's not for a long contract at 31.

Pearce - defence is a key area that needs looking at in all areas. I honestly don't know enough about him, he's never stood out for me. Huth...solid for the Championship but age isn't really in his side now and we can't compete with Prem wages.

Looking forward to your next update already!

I get a bit confused by clubs expressing interest and talking to players when the manager has yet to be appointed.

    And... BENT????

Seriously? Nothing like investing in the future then. And that really is NOTHING like it. And how much is that going to cost us in wages ffs! Wasn't he on about £70k a week at Villa? I can't see him dropping down to £10 - £15 k to come here.

I guess it depends on his options, the guy must have picked up enough dosh sitting on the bench at Villa, so IF he enjoys playing football, then £25K a week would be attractive surely and I can't see GSE breaking the bank for him.

No he probably isn't one for the future, but we have a raft of young players plus a number in the U21's so an experienced head who does not crumble under pressure is an asset and he did score 12 in 17 games in an underperforming team, so not a bad option.

It's a good job he didn't miss a peno in the final game of the season when we needed his experienced head the most...

There is a big difference in situations between Derby when Jewell took over and now.

Jewell took over a team low in confidence and also a team previously managed by Billy Davies, a guy who could motivate average players to perform above their skill level.

This is great in the championship, but you will get found out in the premier league, hence King Billy always blaming lack of investment for his downfall.

Jewell found it very hard to get the best out of the players he inherited, players that had accepted their fate well before season end.

Clement will inherit a team with very good player (like McClaren did), that just need an injection of new idea's and one or two new players in key areas to be promotion challengers next season.

Yes, Clement has little experience in the championship, but he will have a back room team to help with the transition, whether that's Simmo and Steele or his own men.

What if the Clement deal was on nearly 2 weeks a go? That's what a Spanish reporter reported. Now, i'm sure we didn't contact him before sacking Steve and asked for his opinions on potential transfer targets - that would be a bit naughty.

@JLSanchez78: Contado @Jugonesla***ta: Paul Clement, segundo de Ancelotti, ha decidido emprender aventura en solitario. Ira al Derby County

@(null): Counted @Jugonesla***ta: Paul Clement, second of Ancelotti, has decided to embark on solo adventure. Go to Derby County

That was from the 19th of May.

    With FFP, Bent isn't goi
