Alex Pearce may be following Adam Federici out of the door at Reading after reports suggest he is in deep talks with Derby County.

According to reports on social media, Royals' vice captain is currently in talks with Derby County. Pearce was offered a new deal by the club but the two have struggled to come to an agreement. Derby are set to be the favourites to sign Alex with QPR and Leeds also said to be interested.

Althought Pearce shows an unbelievable amount of passion, there's no doubt his ability is more than replaceable. Pearce really struggled to play out from the back under Adkins and despite improving under Clarke, the defender still panics when the ball is at his feet. This is a really problem, especially as we are said to be interested in Wes Foderingham as he loves to play out from the back. Pearce also gets done by the pace

They also say: Anyone thinking we could or would replace Pearce with someone equal to or better than him is deluded.

Pearce was one of the hungriest, never lacked passion. It'll be a bad thing if/when he goes. He's a + defender at this level.

If Pearce is having a good game no-one notices him because he's simple and effective. If you look back at the player ratings we've given him in BFTG threads i'd be surprised if we didn't find that he regularly featured as the 2nd or 3rd best player on the pitch. Sure he's had a couple of crap games, but i can't see any way we'd be able to replace him with similar or better quality.

Really? How do you expect us to 'do better' without spending some real cash? Pearce is a quality defender for this level. We are in serious trouble, assuming he isn't properly replaced,

We can't and we won't get better than Pearce. One of our own academy players who always looked passionate about playing for us
