    ALF...

Has anybody heard anything about were he is going next and have we definitely ruled ourselves out from signing him?

The last I heard Cardiff were saying they won't sell him on the cheap. That pretty much rules us out, although listening to NL yesterday he says the financial situation isn't as bad as people make out.

Word is that he wants to come to us because of Lennon and that his agent is trying to put a deal together, but that his form for us has put other clubs on alert who could pay more.

He definitely wants to come back to the North West so I reckon it's between us, Blackburn, Preston and Burnley.

I reckon Blackburn are ruled out due to FFP. Preston will stick with what they've got and sign Beckford permanently to add to their squad. That leaves Burnley as the biggest threat for me

I sort of agree with you but I wonder if they'll go for a striker who's proven in the Prem??

Fine, ALF might get them back up but after Juke and Sordell will they want a Championship striker on the books when they were relegated basically because they couldn't score goals?

Short-term fix? Yes. But I'm not sure that Burnley will operate like that

    Maybe I'm being over-optimistic

Let's face it, this is all about the money. ALF may well want to come to our club but his agent won't let that get in the way of the best deal.

I think we'll be lucky to sign him and if it does happen, it won't be until much later on in pre-season after all his other options have been exhausted.

I do realise I'm sounding pessimistic here, hopefully I can be proved wrong!
