Re: "Marquee" signings ffs get real!!

It looks very much like we have a chairman who is prepared to put his money where his mouth is, which is great. We have a manager who is not sitting on his hands during the closed season, what a refreshing change.

But all this talk about marquee signings and the squeels of disapointment everytime we sign a player who doesn't fit that description is nuts! Yeah ok Peter Swann might well have started all this with one or two loose comments, but get real!!

If we do get our hands on any real class players this summer, it will be one. Some ex championship or perhaps even premiership player, on the downgrade, who still believes he has a couple of years left.

One thing is for sure, whoever he is, he will be arriving late in the transfer window.

Stop moaning and get behind our club!

I share your optimism Sad Apple, but that doesn't mean every new player should be moaned about if they don't exactly fit the description.

Some might say that Luke Williams is "marquee" and I wouldn't argue with that. A couple more like him and we will be a real force in L1 next season!!

We could certainly use a player in the same mould as old Beagers, whether or not that is possible? I doubt it somehow.

You're right that we don't need some prima-donna ex premiership player on the downgrade. The moral of the team is important, some dick head show off will not help with that at all.

I was reading about Darren Fletcher joining the baggies the other day. That is the sort of player we need, someone who has quality but still works hard for the team, and is also a proper leader on and off the pitch.
