How can you get bad vibes about a lifelong Rams fan worth 0.5 Billion, who wants to get us into the Prem and keep us there ?

Agree with that completely. To be fair he's still only 26. Was only 20-21 when he left us and appeared to have a bad attitude but no doubting the talent. Might have matured over the last five years and with improved fitness and better application then why not give him a chance?

I've followed his career since he left us. He's done ok in the states and has missed only 50 mins of the last 2 seasons

I saw him play a couple of games when he was with us & he could rip defenses apart.
If he has lost that superior attitude he could still be worth a look.

Yes ok you've all seen him over the last 2 yrs in the MLS. Saying he's done ok and ripped defences apart. But Bradley Wright Phillips is a star in that mickey mouse leauge. I rest my case..

I never knew him off the pitch, but he was one of the most talented players I have seen in 45 years of watching Derby. I remember him coming off the bench, whilst not fit, and making the play off final winning goal.

If you're going to quote Jim Smith, I didn't realise that Giles Barnes was playing for us at the age of 12!

I'm with you on this entirely. Was at an MSL game just a few weeks ago and if anything over the last few years the quality has got worse! Most none league teams would give them a good game.

Giles Barnes isn't coming back to Derby, it's lazy summertime journalism to suggest so. Even from his own mouth Barnes is clear that he has lost his pace since his injuries and is playing a central striker role over there - something we all know he couldn't do here.

But I do laugh at those who somehow found him a lazy, disinterested and disruptive influence in his time at Derby. The goals at Sunderland and Cardiff required skill levels that possibly only Idiakez and McMinn has had in a Derby shirt since the good old days (I don't include Kinky as he'd lost them by the time he got here - a bit like I probably wouldn't include Barnes if he came back).

He was a great player to watch and I am sure the likes of Steve Howard would have been a fraction of what they were without him.

So, in conclusion, I don't want him back but I'll not let that tarnish the memory of a player who I really enjoyed watching and who could have been so much more had it not been for some pretty severe injuries.

Barnes...no chance. Classic example of a player taking bad advice from the wrong people and letting his ego grow out of proportion to his ability.
