This is extremely good news if we can prise him away.
I've got my money on down at the bookies and I know where I'm sitting at Old Trafford next season, best team since 1976 etc.

Telegraph is saying we have made a £2M bid for Jason Shackell. Great news if this happens. Shows our intent.

Just cant see this being remotely true. Why would Burnley sell us their captain? Arguably there best defender, they have no reason/need to start letting their best assets go.Originally Posted by Ramfan66
I think we as fans have generated this rumor to start with.
originally there were no rumors about Jason rejoining, until they were generated on forums like these simply by Rams fans stating they would love to see Shackell return.
Media outlets see this and think its clever to post a story in National newspapers suggesting he is signing and we have made a definite bid. Happens alot.
... Be good if it was true though![]()

Perhaps they feel they need to cash in. I believe he has only a year left on his contract which means he could walk away next year. Same old equation perhaps - Decent fee
The theory is that they won't offer an extension at the money he wants, which begs the question how much are we prepared to pay him in wages?
I've no doubt that Derby are one of the better payers but Burnley are likely to be fairly frugal payers - they have a much smaller average gate and even in the promotion season the ground was rarely full. We will probably offer him a longer deal or more money - however I'm sure it won't be in the realms of QPR wages!Originally Posted by swaledale
