Are we still searching for a captain?

Noticeable that two of our latest additions, Pearce and Baird, are recognised leaders and have experience as captain while Keogh has attracted a fair amount of criticism in terms of his leadership. Shackell may still be on his way and Buxton, Thorne and Hughes all have their supporters, so who will be leading the side in just a few weeks time?

Or have the likes of SDSR and Ella, who are invariably very reliable in terms of predictions, heard of a 'midfield general' still to arrive?

I've heard that we are interested in Liam Bridicut of Sunderland. Midfield general. Clement coached him at Chelsea.

This is reported in the sun.
I have just been looking at the Sunderland fans forum and they appear to regards him in a similar light to how our fans view Conor summon !

Comments like...I will drive him there myself...do we have to pay Derby to take him...just an awful footballer .

We badly need a couple of CDM as we had none when John Eustace got injured as well as Omar Mascarell. We had to play the rest of the end of the season without a CDM and that cost us defensively and left our midfield wide open.

Hope the rumours about Bridcutt are not true What a really overated player he is could never understand all the fuss about him when he played for Brighton If it was not for Poyet he would have never got a move to Sunderland hope we stay well clear there much better than him and he will not come cheap

Sounds like he might provide the physical midfield presence we need, but seems a bit 'needy and complex'. Doesn't really come across as 'captaincy' material.

If anything he's a bit lightweight for the role, not captain material for sure, very tidy tho, very good at breaking play up by reading the game, hardly gives a pass away, yes he's struggled a bit in a poor Sunderland side since he arrived there, I think he'd be a very good acquisition for this league and our style of play tho. Would be happy if we got him.
