DUFC fan in peace. Question for you...

It was recently discovered in March this past year that our management team at Dundee United is earning up to 10% of transfers for players going out of the Club.

For example, we sold two of our best players to Celtic for a combined $2,000,000 or there abouts.

This has caused a bit of an uproar within our support as it turns out our management team earns this cut whether they brought these players in, nurtured them or whatever. We have support on both sides of the issue and its caused a massive rift. Full disclosure, I was and still am furious about the arrangement worked out by chairman and manager.

We have always been a selling club & sorry if this offends but i've always seen Southampton as a selling club on a larger scale obviously. So one of the things that gets trotted out there by the DUFC is that this is a commonplace thing in England which leads me to a question for you.

    Does this happen at Southampton?

If not, how would you react upon learning of something like this?

Thanks for popping over, your post is more than welcome here.

To be honest I was under the impression that there were rules in place to stop people taking cuts from transfers and would be surprised if this were allowed to happen in Scotland. Without knowing the full extent of what’s going on and taking it as written, there must surely be conflict of interest issues, not to mention legal ones going on. I know in other lines of business it’s acceptable for directors to develop product lines / sales channels and then receive bonuses or dividends based on it; but in sports? Hmmm.

Senior figures within clubs are scrutinised for taking payments from agents, for example. Especially when the culprit claims he can’t read, blames the dog & then gets away with it, for example.

Can you pop a link into a post to a forum threat showing post for & against? I’d be intrigued to read it, particularly anyone’s viewpoints that support the director’s actions.

    Only 10% being taken!!
Lucky you, at Pompey it seemed that the Club only received 10% of the transfer fees, the balance was suirrelled away by the ownwers/managers and never seen again. Allegedly.

I think we can safely take pompey out of the equation as an abnormally "run" entity. Nothing would surprise me where that twitchy chunt redknapp is concerned.

Cheers pal. I've edited your post to put the link in.

Ignore pompey, they're an exceptional case. Had they been in any other country or association they'd have been relegated to the bottom tier (or lower) immediately. That said, I did find their relegation after relegation ****ing funny.

quote above did make me smile.

I really don't know what happens at League clubs, though nothing would be surprise me. Who knows how far the ripples from the FIFA investigation could extend ??
