Don't even know what to put as the title

    Hi all,

I'm sat here listening to tunes and getting quietly ****ed, the first time I've been able to since my friend passed away a couple of weeks ago.

I was friends with her for 18 years, since I met her as a purple haired, free spirited 16 year old. She had intelligence and charisma at that age, I saw her develop into a woman with wonderful values, humour and empathy. I've always been amazed by the wonderful friends I've got, and she was right at the top of that list. The one time I had to reach out to someone I had lots of people I could have called upon but who did I call? Emma of course. Who else?

She always wanted to have a vocation, to help others. She got her doctorate in psychology and worked with children with autism. She did amazing things, and was published in the top journals. I was so proud of her.

I was also proud of her home life. She was married to a top man, and had two wonderful children. I have been privileged to see Keira (10) and Owen (2) from their earliest d

    Sorry for your loss Wooosh.
My dad also got 12-18 months to live when he was diagnosed with a grade 4 glioblastoma (brain tumor).

    He died within 4 months.

In a way i know it sounds hard but in my humble opinion i think when someone is diagnosed with a terminal illness it's best they drift away peacefully rather than prolong the agony.

But that is just my opinion mate

That's very sad. Sounds like she was a lovely person.

Cancer is such a sudden, brutal, indiscriminate disease.

Very sad whooooshy but unfortunately something that is still far too frequent these days.I am sure that the party will be very sad but also a chance to share stories about your wonderful friend. My thoughts are with her husband who now has to be a mother and father to the kids but I am sure that with the help of you and the family they will get on with their lives and make Emma proud of them. RIP Emma.

Thanks for your kind comments folks, and sorry to spring it on you. I just had the urge to write.

I agree with you tricky, as rotten as it is none of us wanted Emma to suffer any more...and you're right Davee, it's all about supporting Dan to be the sole parent. He'll do a great job, and there will be many people willing to do whatever it takes to help him along the way.

As for the memories, well they're painful right now but it won't be long before they are putting smiles on all our faces.

    Cheers chaps, all the best!

Ah really sorry to hear your sad news Whoosh..

Tough on everyone but especially the kids

    Keep strong mate.

Don't be worrying about having a waffle pal, if it makes things even a bit easier to get it off your chest then do it..

sounds like she was a very popular person and having a celebration of her life seems fitting and hope it's a good day with lots of fond memories shared.

    all the best my friend.
