Who has in football these days? Loyalty works both ways! However, IMO he did not engineer a move, he may have been keeping his options open but in such a precarious occupation who can blame him?

In the end it was his failure to stop the slump that finished him off, not that I'm bothered, but ti will be interesting to see how the "Toon Army" respond, this must be his last chance at the "big time"![/quote]

McClaren had no reason to feel that he did not have a long term future at DCFC. Plenty of (misguided as it turns out) goodwill from the owners and the fans. He was fired for his lack of competence, not the clubs lack of loyalty. Lets face it as soon as

Difficult to judge that one, unless your on the inside surely? Loyalty lasts as long as its convenient for the fans, owners, players and managers and coaches, that's how it is these days sadly.

Theres an assumption that slump was due to a loss of focus, I don't buy that - injuries to key players was a big factor and McClaren and his coaches didn't seem to be able to turn it around - I believe McClaren's flirtation or whatever one would like to call it wit Newcastle was a major factor, the guy is too professional to allow that to happen. As I've said, more worrying was a seeming inability to stop the rot with the squad that was there at that time.

Just an alternative point of view.

Should re-read that one swale...think there might be a 'don't' missing, either that or one of us has lost the plot.
