Final pieces to finish the puzzle!!!

Bloody hell not after much are you?

In my mind we don't have to replace Sammon, as hopefully with new systems in place Russell and Weimann can comfortably slot into a striker role alongside Martin, Bent or each other.

No need for another attacking midfielder either. Relating to that last point the fact we can use different systems might mean we only need 1! Ince, Weimann, Russell, Dawkins can all play centrally or wide.

Don't think we need a left back. Don't discount the importance of a proper left sided centre half as cover for Forsyth. Imagine having Shotton covering you when you want to push forward!

That leaves right back. While I agree, I think we should either get rid of Christie first, or give him time to develop. We have 4 players who can naturally play there for starters and that's not even including Keogh. Christie, Baird, Shotton, Sse*********ambo. Either get rid of one or use Baird until Christie is ready. I'd be hesitant to get rid of Shotton simply because he'

Final pieces to finish the puzzle!!!

Everything in our defence was awful last season so that means we have to completely redevelop the whole defence which includes LB and RB. I agree we have to get rid off a few players as we have too many but I'm sure we are already underway with that process.

You can't/shouldn't write-off an entire defence because of one or two weaknesses.

Too many seem to fail to understand how just one weak link can make an entire back line look dodgy. When you have one player having to cover for others at times, his own performance can suffer and give an inaccurate reflection.

Sometimes you end up throwing the baby out with the bathwater when you over simplify or fail to appreciate the bigger picture.

Agree, even with our habit of conceding goals, we had the 6th best defence out of 24 teams last season!!

The problems in defence stemmed more from 4 key issues:

    1. No Thorne or Eustace leaving the defence exposed.

    2. No established centre back partnership - the previous season Bucko and Keogh were virtually ever present

    3. Christies loss of form which meant constant reshuffling at RB

    4. Silly errors no doubt as a result of loss of confidence which affected the whole team from Grant forwards resulting in comedy goals.

forsyth and Warnock are good left backs at this level.

Christie didn't become *********e overnight (well he did but was excellent first two thirds of the season) and with SSw@nkambo, Baird and Shotton we have the necessary cover.

Watch Derby play Villarreal tonight and we need an attacking midfielder who can help us play more central, too many wide play football i know we have wingers and the formation we tend to use is 4-3-3-1 but we still should be aiming to play more central play even if we play that formation. An attacking midfielder can help us solve this major problem we have got on our hands.

The attacking was too slow we run up to the goal and just stop and let the opposition take the ball of us instead of just shooting on site. We need someone who can give us that extra pace to get us across the line and is willing to shoot on site.
