TS & SE....Are they too close?

Whilst it's great to get the full backing of a chairman, as a manager it must always be at the back of your mind that at some point in the future he may have to sack you.

Over the last few years they have always stood side by side almost like father and son or best of mates brothers. So has SE made his bed where he can't say anything and the players he really wants as it would spoil their friendship?

There is no hiding the fact that SE has come in for some heavy criticism recently but had he have been able to have signed the player he really knows would make a difference (Dicko, Hunt, Tavs,) we would most certainly not be where we are now.

Watching their interview on Sky when they went around all the grounds and TS and SE were being interviewed TS said almost jokingly whilst they were arm in arm that he had never said no when sanctioning money for a player. SE didn't say anything but I wonder what he thought?

    So my question is..

    Are they too close?

re: TS & SE....Are they too close?

I like to think that they have mutual respect for each other.

SE will be aware that it`s a results based industry and when the time comes TS will get rid regardless.

Let`s make the best of what SE has achieved at our club and in a short space of time it`s took.

Some of the criticism was self-inflicted and some was OTT.
These days I`m more interested in the game than what`s going off on the touchline.
SE should perhaps sit in the stand with TS for the first half.
There`s no doubting his passion for the game and sometimes it gets the better of him but lets face facts some referees decisions can in fact add pressure to managers getting the sack but it`s how you handle the situation that really counts.

EDIT : Are they too close ? No I don`t think so.

re: TS & SE....Are they too close?

I've probably not worded the opening thread correctly but the question wasn't would TS have any qualms in sacking SE? That I am 100 percent certain he would if he felt things were so bad.

My question was aimed more at SE that TS....ie SE has always backed the Chairman in regards to signings players and what the club would pay in wages etc...but this is the first time where I have seen real discontent with the fans and had we have not signed the players we did yesterday this site would have gone into meltdown!

My question should really be if SE is cornered with he turn?

I know what you mean fozzie.

I think Evans loyalty is and I know this sounds negative but not meant to is that ta has put up with Evans speradic approach to signings which have not always worked so can't really complain about ts in my opinion

It's football….Evans has put TS on the map more than he has himself at any time…..

It's a business….Evans knows this and it's heavily instilled into him that when he fails because you can't last forever then it's time to accept his fate…..alternatively they reach a gentleman's solution/agreement and he leaves with his head held high and TS recruits a new Manager….

Too close? Nah just great camaraderie…..chill Fozzie and UTM!

re: TS & SE....Are they too close?

I'm chilled Brin, the OP wasn't a dig or an anti SE or TS moan. It was a question really to see what people's thoughts were on their relationship.

I understand the wage structure and certainly don't want the club back where it was a few years back but I can't help feeling that the odd player (most certainly Dicko) have slipped through the net. We then seem to sign 3 or 4 journeymen when we could have signed 1 who would keep us in the division.

It is a risk granted as its not my money but surely TS must see that having 20 odd player on the same or similar money is not going to get is anywhere.

If we were to pick two teams from our current squad excluding the three new ones you'd probably end up with two equal teams no matter how many times we did it. My point is we have no outstanding individuals.
