It's an interesting question and I've no definitive answer. Logically Americans could have gifted the club 20m on the way out and jacked up the price. They could also have done a similar thing with last financial year end subvention payment. Not sure it would make an FFP difference but it could help both parties' tax position.

It would only be short term however as the wage impact of the summer binge will still hit at the end of this financial year

This must be a first as we've both come up with about the same answer.

I'm sure QPR and FFP has a baring on how it's been dealt with.

There is something to throw into the mix. The interview tonight Mel seems to say the deal was brokered back before the Wembley final. Wonder why it's took so long or if in fact they have been shaping how it is to be done and waited for the QPR ruling?

Rattea: The interview tonight Mel seems to say the deal was brokered back before the Wembley final.

Think he was talking about the deal he made to hold a minority stake? I'm assuming that when he "joined the investment group" he had bought shares?

He's unlikely to have fixed the full acquisition before the final as noone would know if he was buying a Premiership or championship team. So perhaps there were heads of terms but no price can have been finalised.

As regards the QPR question, didn't we spend about half the binge before the decision was made and half after. Logically the first block of investment was made assuming old rules applied (and hence ok under strict interpretation) and the binge on 31-08 came about in light of the newer more liberal interpretation of rules.

So when I wonder was the price finalised? If any "shennanigans" were included it cannot have been until the very last moment.

You must hate it Stan! The green eyed monster has really come out. You were saying about Shackel would never leave and his new Texan wife wouldn't either ....... COMEDY GOLD

Roger I wonder if the QPR ruling makes them feel the could go the second half as the last few days has definitely pushed us over a line.

Fair play to Mel on his interview. Only bit I didn't like was the but at the beginning he seems to understand fans who go and don't are stakeholders in some way and he's going to be teammate t about things. No reason not to believe him let's see.
