    Failed Direct Debit, Charge?

    Hi guys,

Haven't posted for a while but just wondering if anyone else has had this problem, I missed the direct debit for the 1st of this month and just assumed that they'd resubmit and have made sure that I have the funds available.

I have never missed a payment before and just think this is poor treatment of supporters. If I was persistently missing then fair enough, but I have missed once in 4/5 years and overpaid by over £200 last season as I was on an adult ticket when I should have been on a student ticket.

But anyway, I had a letter though earlier with a £20 admin charge on top of the £39 direct debt, has anyone else had this problem?

    Hi Greasbrough,

Firstly no I haven't suffered that problem, fortunate to pay for ticket upfront.
Secondly as you state YOU missed the payment, which might as-well imply YOU haven't made sure that the funds aren't there, unfortunately computer systems don't show sympathy to supporters/people, they just follow instructions, to ASSUME anything just makes an a$$ of u and me, so basically missing a payment = a charge whoever you are.

Regarding the student season ticket, could you of not taken proof into the club to of sorted that issue out ???

Sorry to appear to be putting a downer on things for you, but always imperative when knowing payments are expected to go out, make sure the funds are available.

    Good luck !

Is the £20 charge from the bank or the club?

Correct each time they process it and comes back as failed = another charge

The £20 is from the club, I appreciate it was an error on my part I accept that, but I've never defaulted before and £20 for an honest mistake is excessive. If I was continually defaulting then thats fine and I wouldn't question it.

I asked about the student ticket last year but was told because it was taken out on as an adult (because I wasn't going to uni at the time that I renewed) that it couldn't be downgraded.

Have you had words with the club to put your point across to them ?? to see if they'll reimburse ?? doubt they will mind, but worth a try, nothing ventured nothing gained

With you not going to uni at that time, looks like they thought well should be paying full rate, did you have proof that you was to be going to uni at some point during the year ?? but then they may of said well until such n such date it's full rate ??

Good luck Bud if you get in touch with the club about the charge.

It will be a standard charge by the club whether you have missed before or not won't come into I'm afraid.
Anyone who have trouble with student cards then don't go to the shop (I won't go into that :/ ) e-mail the club where you will get a better response (we got reimbursed when we had a uni date and prove)

    re: Failed Direct Debit, Charge?

I'm glad you guys don't think I'm being totally unreasonable. I have spoken to someone who suggested to put in an email which she will take to a director so I'm assuming it will be at their discretion.

Stopher4 when I renewed in June of last year I had no plans to go back to uni which is why it was initially taken out as an adult and not a student. I decided to go back into education in late August by which point the season ticket and the direct debit was already in place and set up. When I asked about changing it I was told that it wasn't possible by someone at the club shop. So I just sort of accepted that last season and didn't properly challenge it, like I probably should have done.

just a thought ... but will the club have been charged by the bank for trying to take a payment from an account with insufficient funds ?
