For the sake of correctness lads, can I simply point out that the likes of Yorkshire, Burnley, Blackburn etc. are, in fact, in the Midlands. The (real) North starts north of Barrow.

The south starts at Stafford. London is, officially, abroad.

No Alf, you're thinking of moorlad. The real North contains places like Striding Edge. The North undulates and you can breath there. Real Northerners climb things to escape. You midlanders climb things to escape from the law.
