    Rambusta i have to agree.
I thought at half time maybe change things coz they couldn't get much worse & put Bent & Wiemann on. Needed pace & speed.
Martin not at the races today. His first touch today was very poor for him.

The problems do not lie with Martin but with the negative and ineffective formations and tactics that Clement seems to love. Is he able to learn anything from what he sees on the pitch? Why play Warnock when Forsyth offers much better attacking options? Why play Baird in midfield? Why not have a formation that gives Ince a more central position? Far too many of the balls to our fowards today were speculative hoofs rather than balls to feet or into space where a player might run.

Very unimpressive today ( until Baird went off) and not good to watch .

I would be surprised if derby got promoted under this guy. Not impressed with the style of play at all

I sort of agree with both sides, Marin, on the face of it was awful, diving and moaning, poor first touch etc. That said the tactically inept formation leaves the poor bloke so exposed, you can feel his frustration.
There may be a master plan behind the tactics and the results suggest there is, but to the untrained eye, it looks pants.

'Tactically inept' or tactically not suited to Martin, woolwhacker? Genuine question, I don't know, but no one player is more important than the team and other strikers/formations are available. Martin has been the main man for the last two years just like Bryson was before him but it's been a while since either impressed.

I don't think it's Martin (although the diving has to stop), the whole team looks dis-jointed, we play too slowly and the football just doesn't flow. The zonal defending leaves us exposed.
I know the results and the defensive records show that I may be wrong, but yesterday we could of been on the end of a drubbing.

    Harsh.

We were better yesterday when Butterfield (this guy doesn't seem the quality player he was talked up to be) and Baird (a John Eustace with composure) went off. It was right to take Martin off, because all our midfield were capable of is lumping it up field or passing it back. If we don't play football in the final third then Martin won't do much for us other than take the pressure off our defence every now and again. Perhaps when we start bossing the midfield we'll start looking good again.

Still, 4 goals in 9 games aint bad for someone who's not all that.

Desperate for Thorne and Hughes to be back, 2 players from the spine is hard to cover for. Interestingly though, Bent and Weimann look promising as a plan B when chasing games.

I understand fully the points about not playing the type of football that suits Martin.. No arguements here but yesterday when the ball did get to him it was flying off him all over the place.. Thats where I have the issue with him, he needs to remain positive all game and when the chances do come he is in the right mind set to do something.

I keep hearing Thorne this, Thorne that but we need to realise the geezer is made of paper.. Do we, should we be building a team around someone who may only play sparodically. I dont think we have better players in our squad than Thorne and Hughes but we do have possibly the best squad in this league.

    COYR.
