Thread: Chris Baird

    re: Chris Baird

Baird doesn't really deserve any stick from Derby supporters and I don't agree with this scapegoat nonsense. Sammon always put a shift in when called upon and it still amazes me the abuse that some fans gave to Keogh.

Just pointing out that I personally don't think Baird is as good as others in their respective positions, even with our current injury problems. Maybe I didn't put it over very

he's a centre back by trade and a pretty solid one at that. he can shift to right back as a utility man and it appears that was what he was brought in to do at derby.

At RB I don't think he did a bad job at all. he's had the odd lapse in concentration and he doesn't bomb forward like Christie did he's pretty solid and can put in a decent cross.

I guess it goes back to those square pegs in round holes again. can anyone remember when will hughes first came into the side and was stuck out wide? he was nowhere near as good.

I just hope that he'll play for us in defence because that's his bread and butter. I think we should cut this guy some slack.

My worry is , Oh please no, if Thorne is fit play two holding midfielders in Baird and Thorne ,which has happend before it doesn't work .We are to fluid a team to play negative . I personally would play Johnson Hendrick & Butterfield in the midfield three if Thorne wasn't fit ,with Johnson a bit in the Thorne role .
Baird for me would be a bench warmer in case either Keogh or Shackell got injured

I guess you just have to make one mistake, albeit a crucial one and all that hard work put in to get the team there is forgotten!

Cant deny that Sammon put a shift in, but he was still *********ing useless!

Only problem with that OTR, is that Baird was actually made captain before the injuries you speak of, so Clem obviously had him down as part of his original starting eleven. Think Dawkins has been a bit unlucky not to get a look in too.

wiseman....I bet that's the first time andi's ever been called that

trouble is, playing him off the front man would require a complete change of system and I for one wouldn't be willing to do that to accommodate one player who despite being played out of position, has shown none of his talent so far.
