The League over FA Cup debate... Again

This time with an added twist...

Derby are currently scheduled to play four out of the current top six in a row during January. The third round of the cup is after the first game against Boro. Even the most diehard of FA Cup fan can see the need to field a second team or the U21's this year... can't they?

Just can't see any logic in it.. Play games, win games. Winning is a habit.. I would not play anyone who is carrying a knock just for the sake of it. We do have a stronger squad this year and the odd change might not upset things too much but once you get into the 4 + changes... Grrr.
The first cup game is after Boro anyway.

There should be no need for debate, and if the FA Cup winners and the finalists had equal access to European competition the following season then both competitions would be equally important.

Our squad is ridiculously big at the moment, so it shouldn't really be too much of an issue. Unfortunately the league is a much bigger priority than the FA cup so there's only going to be one winner here. I wouldn't be too bothered if we were knocked out straight away, unless it was to a non-league side as that would just be embarrassing. But not getting promoted again would be even more embarrassing!!! But as I say, the squad is big enough now for us now to play a half decent second XI:

    Grant
    Ssewan... - Pearce - Shotton - Warnock/Forysth
    Baird - Hanson - Bryson
    Weimann - Bent - Dawkins

That team would probably still stay up in the Championship!!! And that's ignoring players in the under 21s such as Bennett, Calero, Lowe etc.

At the end of the day, I can remember where we've finished in the table for at least the last 10 seasons. The only things I recall from the cup in the last 10 years was beating United, and losing to Chelsea and Crawley.

Why don't Clement go for the double and show how good he really is. I'd never play a weakened side in the FA cup because I'd want to win every game!

The priority HAS to be the league, modern football is about rotation, we didn't lose last year because of the team, it was due to Warnocks sending off.

Here's a bit of a quandary.... People say promotion is more important but if we get promoted then all well really have to play for is the cup (and/or avoiding relegation)
