Everyone talking about different reasons why the team has slid but I think a ' biggie' is that Dowie and Higgins are not as dominant now as they were. They were a hugely dependable spine of the team that isn't there now.

I disagree that we need to keep the team together for next season. I think we need to rebuild in the summer and i'm not convinced Fowler is the man to do it. Lyle and Russell can't go on forever and Higgins doesn't deserve a new contract based on current performances.

I haven't seen anything from him that suggest he has what it takes to be a successful manager. Appointing a senior player with no managerial experience was always going to be a gamble. Some might argue it paid off, as qualified for the play-offs last season. My own view is that Fowler inherited an extremely well-drilled side from Mcintyre and that it would have been difficult for him to muck it up.

Within months of his appointment there were worrying signs; Mark Kerr and John Baird hastily leaving the club, by mutual consent, only to then join our rivals. He didn't appoint an assistant last season and when he finally did he opted for his mate, who is equally inexperienced.

The squad seems imbalanced, which is w

He needs to get binned, signed too many duds and his tactics and substitutions stink.

Comes across as being a decent guy be he's too weak imo and plays too safe.

We were lucky against Morton and it could have ended the same as yesterday.

Nothing will change as he serves up cack while clinging to his job, get someone new in who will play attacking football.

Its because they are carrying the team getting pulled apart having to pick up the midfield's mistakes.

We get no cover from midfield and it creates nothing, midfield is the biggest problem.

[/quote] You are correct there . I can't remember the midfield being as weak as this for many a year. Millar has been a huge disappointment so far and he has a lot more than he is showing . Jacobs is a good tackler but refs frown on them these days . He is getting yellow cards that immediately blunt his effectivenes for the rest of the game for fearing another card. Tapping is just a waste of a wage but I feel sorry for the boy. Back to my original point and Higgins .

Have to disagree on Jacobs. The amateur leagues are full of good tacklers, but it doesn't make them good players. The man is incapable of making a 10 yard pass but yet plays every week. Harris is a machine out wide but keeps getting played in a central position where it is congested and we can't use his pace. We all know Miller has a lot more to offer than what he has shown this season and I feel a rocket up his backside is what is needed to get the best out of him. With the talent he has got he should be a stand out but he isn't showing it. As a result higgins dowie and co are being pulled all over the place as they have no protection whatsoever and appear to be short on confidence.

I remember Hibs 2nd goal and that summed up our midfield. We have the ball deep in the opposing half. All midfield players push up, three passes later followed by a shot and goal without a midfielder in sight or a tackle being made. Everyone seems to think that we have good players at the club but for

Very much agree with fatfan on a number of points here.

The calibre of players and the sheer team work ethic we lost at the end of last season was never really going to be able to be simply replaced. What we had at the end of last season was a product of a number of years of hard work across all departments at Queens from the board and manager (we had a couple), right down to the youth team staff gradually bringing in the right players at the right time and introducing the younger players gradually who managed to cement themsevles a place in our team.

I for one did not expect (as much as I would love it) for us to be challenging again this season for the playoff positions and I believe the board must have been sharing this view. They, like many of us will be have been aware of how big a task we would have this season, looking for Fowler to consolidate our position in this league again, while also playing some attractive and entertaining football. This may explain some of our sig

If Fowler was on a tight budget then surely we wouldn't be bringing in a loan player to simply to warm the bench week in week out. What a waste of a wage let alone signing unp**** strikers all of 5.2'' in stature and signing a injury prone player who surprise surprise hasn't played because he's injured..
Right back what right back, he must have forgot we needed one from last season.
It all just points to poor management, a manager who just doesnt have any contacts to bring quality players and doesnt have a eye for what a team requires rather than a restrictive budget.

Right back should have been a priority position to fill this season. After all , we got away with playing a centre half ( Dowie) there last season out of necessity and he did a fine job although we missed a bit in a going forward sense with him there . Brownlie signed but I am sure he was a centre half and not a right back.
