I too am a little dissapointed with the style of football we are playing but to give up so soon is crazy champs
we have a good manager at this level let's not Write him off before he has even been 3 months in the job
as for selling Rhodes that is also dangerous
I believe Lambert will secure somebody before the window shuts who can unlock the doors for Rhodes
mystifying you include Steele in this who in my opinion is a ***** part of this team sell him and you could see the defence start to crumble as well
totally agree with Marshall though get rid and move on.

Things always had to look worse on the pitch before they could get better in terms of game play. Defence needs sorting, and by that I mean by the whole team. So starting to sure up the defence with more midfield support and playing a more pressing game was hardly likely to make Rovers look like the Brazil 1982 World Cup squad overnight. If there is a long term game plan to change the style of play, to an idea that will hopefully produce results in the championship on a more consistent basis, then there will a period of time where it looks dull. I guess the 1st plan is trying to make Rovers hard to beat, (3 defeats on the trot ). Then it's bring in some stronger players. Afterall, if he'd had the Marshall of 18 months ago, those last 3 defeats may not have happened. No saying he was a one man team, but the way he'd drive and cross made other players up their game. So I'll wait a while before judging either way.

That said, what worries me more than anything is the apparent lack of

I hope you are right and I feel more confident in you saying it as you and Howie are the Ewood regulars
I think we will have a new striker by the qpr game and hopefully if he links up with Rhodes well results can start to take a turn for the best
as for Marshall I remain hopeful the Bennett signing will fire him up as let's be honest he didn't have too much competition which in turn led to inept performances
as Dan rightly said we would like to have the Marshall of 2 years ago back not the current rubbish hopefully this is the spark needed and required.

I too was taken aback by Champs listing Steele as not necessary.
I can only comment with the benefit of watching him maybe two or three times at best since his return, but more importantly the galvanising of Duffy and Hanley (coincidence?).
From what I observed, it seemed to me a 'confidence connection' between the centre back two and the goalie.
I may know nowt about footie, but Steele seems far more commanding and confident between the sticks than the other two previous incumbents. Which in turn affects how they perform, decision wise.

    IMO

I dont particularly dislike Steele. He doesnt cost us many points. He is solid. Is he quality? Will we go up with an average champ keeper? no. Do we need to push onto the next level? yes. Do we need a keeper to make a difference? Yes. One that will gain us extra points over a season. For me, that isnt Steele. We have 3 keepers at our club. I'd keep one (Rayas) and try get money for the other 2. And invest in a quality keeper who will difference. Steele is adequate. Thats it. We dont need adequate. Thats why we are a middle of the road champ side. we need a bit more quality.

    Thats my reasoning behind Steele.

I can see we have have no money. But we need quality. Not sub standard resver team players. Real quality.
    I'd be going for .....
Charlie Adam from Stoke. Not playing much at Stoke.
    Jon Walters. Same
    Crouch - same.

These lads are sitting not playing.
We now hoof the ball forward, so no point keeping Rhodes? He will never score in this system. Crouch and Walters

Charlie Adam? Now that would be a coup. Perfect for what we need! Not a snowball in hell's chance, unfortunately.

Having seen Steele a few times this season he has saved us a quite a few times
is he an amazing keeper?of course not but then again there are no amazing players at this level but he is a good championship keeper who if we sold we would notice straight away.
as for the players you suggested it would be a yes to any of those sadly wages are a big issue there
yes we are out of the embargo but spending stupidly and risking the club slipping back in should not be considered.
