We want to avoid Celtic and arguably Hearts - beyond that there's nobody we can't beat though obviously very few you'd say we can't lose to either.

Hopefully a home tie against one of the lower ranked sides whilst the bigger sides are drawn together. If we want a cup run we need the odds stacked in our favour at this stage.

That said I fully expect us to draw either Celtic, Hearts or Dundee Utd and that'll be that for another year.

Sorry LawSteelman but can't see how you could possibly think Dundee United on current form would beat us in a cup tie. Celtic and Hearts no doubt the teams we would want to avoid, but if drawn against either of them at Fir Park IMO we would still have a chance.Bigger concern to me is being drawn away to a lower league team, as unlike when you play a top team you just don't know what to expect when you play one of the so called smaller teams with regard to their strengths, weakness, tactics or pitch conditions.

Agree remember Lawman thought we would draw with Cove on Saturday so don't take the bait as I don't believe anything he says any more as nobody with a knowledge of football in any way would expect a team unbeaten in 5 premiership games having played 3 of the top 4 in that time not to beat a highland league team at home and then when we win by biggest margin of all the ties say we were abysmal

    re: Tonight's draw

Just like no one with a knowledge of football would expect 2nd bottom of the lowest tier Albion Rovers to beat 3rd top of the Premier League Motherwell you mean???

And why would I think Dundee Utd would beat us? Because despite how poor they are they have already pumped us at Fir Park this season and our recent record against them would more than suggest that they would beat us again. And if you want a bit more, our Cup record against top flight sides is woeful, not one single win since the St.Johnstone semi final in 2011...and since 91 we have met Dundee Utd on numerous occasions in the Scottish Cup and have won ONCE.

So, I'd rather avoid the Arabs thank you very much.

Would obviously rather avoid them but we could also do a lot worse...and although it's very hard to tell before the transfer window closes, my instinct is I'd back us with more confidence against United than Hibs or Rangers...

Really don't care. any one of the teams listed could beat us (possibly exception 7 and 12) and we can beat any one of them. Would just depend which Motherwell turns up for the game and having watched them for 40 years I'm still no nearer being confident of what Motherwell turns up. Being an East Kilbride man born and bred Id like to see my team play my home town team

I also have a feeling if we got East Kilbride at Motherwell they'd actually bring a big crowd. Mind Watching them win the Scottish Junior Cup bout 30 years back at Ibrox and there was a huge EK support.

Not fussy. A home tie against anyone would suit me. I think on our day we could beat any of those teams at Fir Park.
